Many Parental skills must be learned if parents are to raise their children well. Some of the skills that parents would find useful are dealing with their own stress, how they express their emotions in front of their children and one of the most contentious topics, persuading children to do their homework. Below, we are going to talk about parenting skills and behavior modification for kids.
Parents must learn to handle their own bad emotions before they confront their child. If a parent doesn’t address his or her own issues beforehand, the child only learns to get upset and angry and paradoxically the child doesn’t learn anything the parent want to teach him or her. One example is if a child stays out past a previously imposed curfew. If the child stays out long enough, the parents may be frantic and distraught, afraid something may have happened to their child. When the child enters the home the parents may be relieved at first but soon that relief turns into anger that is expressed in the most vocal manner possible.
